Summary Of Crash

On April 12, 2007 at approximately 6:05 A.M. the Vermont State Police responded to a two car accident, located on I89 northbound in the Town of Winooski. The accident occurred at the north end of the Winooski River Bridge.

Forziati (Operator #1) was on her way to work and was traveling southbound on I89 in the passing lane. Forziati was not feeling well and began to feel dizzy as she was driving southbound on I89. While Forziati was in the process of pulling over to the break down lane, she fainted and impacted the guard rail. Forziati's vehicle ricocheted off the guard rail, went across three lanes of traffic on I89 southbound and entered the median just north of the Winooski River Bridge. Forziati's vehicle impacted the embankment at the U-Turn and went airborne approximately 8 feet. Forziati's vehicle landed in the northbound lanes of travel before colliding with the oncoming vehicle.

Bennett (Operator #2) was traveling northbound on I89 in the center lane. Bennett observed the airborne vehicle coming in his direction and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision. Forziati's vehicle impacted Bennett's vehicle in the left rear quarter panel causing both vehicles to spin around several times in the northbound lanes of travel. Read more at dps.state.vt.us.
